I am Mingo.
Are you threatening us?
Chapter 8, part 2
2003-09-05

Ivy and Draco made their way into her classroom. He followed, as close to her as he could without seeming obvious, he had a self-righteous smirk on his face, the way she and Osanna had handled Ron had been brilliant.

Ivy un-locked the door to her classroom and ushered Draco in. He couldnt help but smirk as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"How can I help?" He asked, glancing around the room.

Ivy tilted her head. "Hmmm, just straighten those chairs there a bit, and stack up those books."

Draco nodded and began to pull the desks into tidy rows, determined to do the best he could. He was then stacking up the books when he heard a rapping at the window.

Ivy had already noticed it and was headed towards the noise. She fiddled with the stubborn window for a moment; the thing had always been stuck. She finally jerked it open; a large Eagle Owl hovered there, looking rather impatient.

Ivy's black-colored lips pursed in confusion, she reached out and was going to bring the bird inside. It hissed however and fought against her touch, it's sharp talons ripping a long ribbon of flesh from her forearm. She hissed at the bird, yanked the letter from its foot and slammed the window closed, blood dripping from her arm in a rather nasty manner. Things were turning out badly today, all she had wanted to do was discuss a way to get the information on Narcissa to the proper people...and now all of this.

Draco looked up and saw the wound the bird had caused, his eyes darkened and he shook his head in mute disbelief as he stopped at her side.

"I think this is..."

"For me" Draco finished. "That was.... my MOTHER'S bird."

Ivy handed him the letter, her arm bleeding rather copiously; the talons had dug deep. Draco was concerned about her, it was written in his eyes but he quickly hid it as he took the letter. He opened it and walked in circles as he read it to himself.

Not even a minute later Draco hissed and balled the letter up in is fist; he then threw it on the floor hurriedly, as if it were poisoned parchment. His fists came to rest on the desktop with a loud "THUD".

Ivy watched his reaction, having forgotten about her arm she didnt notice the puddle of blood she now stood in. "Draco what is it?"

He didn't answer right away; his mind was racing with thoughts. HOW COULD SHE? THE NERVE OF THAT INSOLENT, SNIVELLING WOMAN! He was fuming, his entire face had reddened, and his heart was pounding so hard he could hear it in his ears. He fists clenched and tightened around the desk and he felt as if he wanted to throw it across the room. He gritted his teeth and then nearly bit his lip off to keep himself from screaming until his throat bled. He hissed, sounding like a cobra about to strike and he blinked rapidly, hot tears of anger clouding his vision.

"DRACO" Ivy's worried voice floated back to him as if over a long distance and he blinked again before looking up at her; his anger apparent.

"My MOTHER..." He trailed off and shook his head as if disgusted with himself. "The WOMAN who calls herself my mother.... she heard what happened this morning...she received a owl from someone, Dumbledore I bet...and....and...She demanded I APOLOGIZE to WEASLEY.....".... He took a deep breath...that wasn't the worst of it. "She...said I no longer have any reason to see you or Professor October aside from classes!"

Ivy blinked in disbelief...........Draco, APOLOGIZE? She shook her head and allowed her arms to fall to her sides. Her eyes widened; was that woman MAD?

Draco snarled in anger and kicked the desk he had been leaning on over with all his weight, sending it crashing against the wall, after skidding across the floor a few feet. It may as well have been his pride...or his heart. He looked back up at Ivy, it was then he noticed the blood still leaking in a sickening river from the wound... "OH GOD" he thought, what if his mother had poisoned Minerva's talons?

It was at that moment Osanna came in, kicking the door closed behind her, her face still aglow; she was pleasantly unaware of the situation at hand... That changed quickly when she saw Ivys crimson arm.

As she bandaged it, Ivy told her what had happened. Draco stood seething next to them. So what can we do to save this poor boy from this stupid woman? Osanna asked Ivy with a glint in her eye. Hes so promising that any setback in his magical career would be terrible. Draco perked up at these words, then summoned his best forlorn face.

I just wish that she would go away, but she wont. She likes my fathers money and power too much. The only way she would go is if he THREW her out.

Well, Ivy seized her chance, We may be able to help there. She told Draco all about his mothers meeting with her sister and the fact that they had a picture box with the evidence in their house. Behind him, Osannas smile turned into a fanatical grin. The worst part is Draco, well youre mothers a Muggle. She had saved the best for last and it paid off, Dracos face contorted with rage.

MY MOTHERS A MUGGLE!! He slammed his fist into the desk, How dare she sully the name of Malfoy with filth. Im Im a halfblood He trailed off. Ivy wrapped an arm around his shoulders and he leaned into her and they embraced.

Only this time no smile graced his lips, only a mix of fear, anger and disillusionment.

Draco left. His anger towards his mother had not been diluted but he had added to it a large serving of cunning and resentment. His father could not have known about his mothers true past or he would never have married her, pregnant or not.

To tell him would mean possibly bringing his animosity towards Draco Himself because now he was a half-blood, he would have to do something so as to prove that he was worthy of the Malfoy name to keep his dedication.

A plan hatched in his brain and quickly grew into a Basilisk of immense proportions. He went home, an evil grin etched into his face.
