Chapter 24: Part Two

"Draco...."

He snapped back to attention and turned around again, he had been so deeply entrenched in his own thoughts he thought he had heard HER, but it was only Sestine.

"DIDNT I tell you to go away? Piss off? LEAVE ME ALONE!" He shouted the last few words, just for added emphasis.

"Yes but...."

"GO AWAY!" Draco insisted, he was quickly becoming sick of this game.

Sestine shrugged and sighed deeply. "Fine but..." she pointed to the ground at Draco's feet. "Thought you may want to have a look at that."

"A look at wha...." Draco trailed off and gazed down at his feet, sure enough, something was there. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously and gazed at the object with abject fascination. What was it? It was small, perhaps no bigger than a golden snitch, however it was no such thing, that he could have understood. This object however was glowing with a curiously strong, radiant light that was many different hues all at once, sapphire blue, emerald green, amethyst purple, mostly however it shed a silver light that, despite the object's small size, radiated out for at least five feet in a perfect circle. He stared at it, not entirely sure as to if he should pick it up or not. It also seemed to radiate a cool warmth, if that made any kind of sense, it certainly didn't to Draco.

He poked at it experimentally with his shoe. "What in the..."

"A star" Sestine announced, interrupting him. "It's a star."

"What?" Draco said incredulously. "Youve lost it!"

Sestine shook her head and chuckled softly. "I saw it, it fell out of the sky and landed right there at your feet, granted, it doesnt happen very often.... only when you desire something greatly."

Draco glowered at her and poked at it again, was she insane? Then again, he had been wishing for the perfect gift for Ivy, something other than the gifts he already had. Something that could prove his love for her, something beautiful.... could this be it?

He reached down towards it then pulled his hand back at the feeling of warmth. Sestine laughed and scooped it up in her hands before Draco could say a word.

"Silly boy, it isnt hot to the touch, it merely emits a warm glow...see?"

She placed the glowing orb into Draco's outstretched hands and he quickly snatched them back, as if he feared she would try to take it away...yes, this was perfect for Ivy! Perhaps if he put it in some sort of fancy bottle or jar. He poked at it and the star vibrated a bit, warming his hands. Finally, something nearly as beautiful and rare as Ivy herself.

He pulled a black handkerchief from his pocket and wrapped it around the orb, it wouldnt do for it to be glowing all the way back to his dorm. The cloth dimmed the light sufficiently and he smirked.

"What are you going to do with it?" Sestine asked, sounding like a concerned parent.

Draco rolled his eyes as he stood up. "None of your bloody business!" and with that, he took off at a brisk sprint back towards the school, eager to get his gifts sorted.

Sestine watched him go and she held herself back from following him or running after him. It was after all; painfully obvious she was not wanted in the slightest. She didnt want to let it upset her, after all, why should she bother? Her competition was perfect, at least in his eyes...and one couldnt compete with perfection...could they?
